I finally left my warm apartment. I went to pick up some items at the dollar store across the street. It’s five degrees outside and the wind chill factor is -15 degrees.
The dollar store across the street is a pretty big store with row after row of shelves full of all sorts of items. And even though the store is cavernous, I’ve never seen more than three people working in the store at the same time. And they all look to be in their twenties.
One young man that I’ve seen working in the store seems to be a manager type. He’s always punked-out, dressed all in black with a couple of piercings, tattoos and two-tone hair.
Today I picked up two cans of spaghetti sauce. Each can cost one dollar, a real bargain. And I picked up some snacks, several boxes of those little pies. If I had bought the same pies at the CVS/Pharmacy down the street, each pie would have cost me $1.29.
At the dollar store the exact same pies cost me 55 cents a box.
