Don’t you just love street festivals? I know I do. It’s the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh. Little Italy in Pittsburgh is about to have one of the most popular street festivals in the city: Little Italy Days. The festival takes place in the Bloomfield neighborhood of the city on August 22, 23, 24 and 25. Bloomfield has a very strong Italian heritage. That’s why it’s called Little Italy.
The city usually closes down several blocks of Liberty Avenue in the commercial center of Little Italy, so that people can stroll about and enjoy the Italian recorded music, live bands, ethnic food booths, a Bocce tournament and the other good things that happen during this celebration of the neighborhood’s Italian heritage. It’s a very family friendly event. Of course, adults can find lots to do, too.
The Old Soldier just came back from food shopping in Little Italy. It’s a beautiful, hot, sunny day. I’m constantly looking for things about Pittsburgh to report on in the New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. I take my job as a blogger, as a citizen journalist seriously.
Karaoke In Little Italy
The karaoke scene in Little Italy is also part of my beat. And now that the college students are returning from summer vacation, karaoke will soon be jumping.
