Join me in a new adventure: my new (refurbished) computer is up and running. At first it wouldn’t work. I lost my connection to the Internet! But after consulting with my Internet provider’s IT team my Internet connection was restored. It seems that my account did not recognize the new computer. The solution? Re-boot my modem.
The Old Soldier is once again connected to the Internet and my high-speed connection is working at full capacity.
You can’t beat that with a stick!
Now I’m a real webmaster. Come join the adventure.
Well, my new computer is good news for all who want to experience a new kind of online magazine for adults.
It’s a cloudy day in Pittsburgh, even though the high will be in the 50s. I’m going to stay in today and read my new book on Edgar Allan Poe. I’m learning so much about the short story by reading Poe’s stories and his essays on the short story. But the new book on Poe is a new critical study of his work and his place in American literature. So now I have two great literary heroes: Ernest Hemingway and Edgar Allan Poe.
Pirate exhibition baseball will be on the radio this evening. Opening day is 31 March. I’ll cover the new season for the magazine, but not by quoting statistics. I’m not a statistics reporter and there are plenty of reporters who do statistics.
I’ll cover the Pirates from the angle of a casual fan who is excited once again to have a winning ball club to root for after twenty years of losing baseball. And there are a lot of fans out there just like me.
Sure you can call us fair-weather fans. That’s okay. Fair-weather fans need their voices heard, too.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, a blog of art, culture, creative writing and sex as art and entertainment. The adventure continues.
