A sunny but chilly afternoon in Pittsburgh of a high just around 47 which is not good walking weather or at least not good walking weather for me so I just popped outside this morning for a quick walk around the block and then came but to my seedy but warm apartment and made myself a couple of cups of hot chocolate which is my drink of choice when the weather is chilly and there is no fun money for beer.
Charles Bukowski goes well with beer but I read my Charles Bukowski cold turkey today finishing Factotum (A Novel) by Bukowski published in 1975 and the novel did what I hoped it would do: get me back to blogging again. Henry Chinaski the anti-hero of the novel was just like the author which meant he was an alcoholic bum who worked a series of dead-end jobs as he tried to make it as a writer and this in itself is plenty of inspiration for me although I want to make it as a blogger and now this blog is bringing in a more money than I am investing in it which is nice and which gives me hope that I am getting tantalizing close to having this blog actually impact my income on an even greater scale.
Oh I will never accomplish what Bukowski accomplished but to be a “successful” blogger I don’t have to.
Now I’ve got another novel by Bukowski and I’m going to post this and then continue to listen to Pitt football on the radio which should be a tough game for the Panthers playing at Clemson who is the number two team in the nation and to assume my favorite position flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and enjoy the game and the novel Women by Bukowski published in 1978.
