A new day of blogging has begun! Hello hello hello, visitors from all over the world! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game! I am happy to report that for the past six days this blog has averaged 1,077 page views every day.
Now you know you can’t beat that with a stick!
I thank you one and all. It makes a blogger feel good to know that he or she is appreciated. I put in a lot of time into this blog, but then again I’m retired so I have a lot of time to put into it. I’m already thinking forward to 2018 when I plan to publish four flash fiction stories by contributors. Unfortunately, I don’t accept unsolicited submissions any longer. When this diary/magazine did accept unsolicited submissions the flood of submissions was so great I couldn’t keep up with the task of reading them and then sending an answer to each writer who submitted a story. On top of that for every 100 stories I read the budget of this publication would only allow me to publish one story no matter how good the other stories might have been. This was unfair to the writers and it was an ineffective use of my time.
But I did come across a handful of talented writers I now work with on a regular basis. This is a far better use of their time and mine for I may be retired and have plenty of time there is no need for me to squander my time.
So, It’s around 7:30 a.m. and dawn is breaking outside my second story windows as I sit here now in my underwear and flip flops at my workstation–What? Too much information? Sorry. I sit here at my workstation happily typing away and looking forward to listening to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots on the radio. As a blogger and a writer I refuse to have a television in my apartment. I know plenty of bloggers and writers have televisions in their apartments or homes, but that doesn’t work for me. For some odd reason a television kills my desire to be creative. Just say I’m old fashion. Real old fashion. As long as I have a good AM/FM radio and my laptop and I can check out books from the library I’m a happy man.
So, around 4:30 p.m. today I’ll assume my favorite position which is on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and I’ll turn on the game and run my favorite slide show on my laptop facing me on my workstation and crack open my last 40-ounce bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer until I get more fun money later this month and I will enjoy the game as I dream of dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before…
Hail to Pitt!
“It’s a funny thing about being retired and blogging and me and television. I’ve been blogging around 14 years now. This version of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will be four years online come February, and in all this time I’ve found out that I am more creative as a blogger and a writer if I don’t have a television. When my last television went kaput several years ago I couldn’t afford to buy a new one for a couple of months, but in those two months my output as a blogger and a writer soared. Now the only time I watch television is in a bar and the only bars I go to are Armand’s and Sonny’s Tavern and both are within walking distance in Little Italy.”–Guy Hogan
Today’s football game will be a home game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be mostly cloudy today with a high in the low 40s.
