The Old Soldier is stretched out on the sofa with two fat pillows under his weary head as he jots in his notebook, sipping on a large bottle of Coca-Cola and listening to the Pirates and Cubs play baseball on the radio. Outside my two windows, the branches of the trees sway gently in the sunshine and the mild autumn breeze. Next week I’ll be drinking beer at Armand’s in Little Italy and going to karaoke at Nico’s in Little Italy; but today it’s nice to relax and to listen to the Pittsburgh Pirates play baseball on a September afternoon and to know that the team will be going to the playoffs for the first time in 21 seasons. It’s a great time to be a baseball fan in Pittsburgh.
This blog is a paying market.
Hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, poets, readers and writers. The Old Soldier is enjoying his retirement. The weather is beautiful and I have plenty of books from the public library to read. A writer has to feed the mind.
New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette
I think my little blog is slowly establishing itself as a provocative publication for adults that not only offers useful tips on how to write flash fiction, but it also presents a unique blend of reading content that appeals to the libido and the intellect: an eclectic blend of art, culture and sex.
If you write fiction or poetry and would like to submit something to the New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, please read and follow the submissions guidelines. Sex is always a popular subject here, but you don’t have to write about sex. You just have to write well.
I can publish only a small percentage of the submissions that I get. So, send in your best. You only get one shot every reading period. Good luck. I’m rooting for you.
