If you are a beginner writer, it is not enough to simply write. You must invest in your talent…
What a lovely day it has turned out to be in The ‘Burgh today. The sun is shinning as the temperature slowly edges toward 60 degrees.
So, how do you invest in your talent if you are a beginner writer?
You must read. Read not just in the genre that you write in, but read about things outside of your genre.
You must study the craft of writing. If your genre is the short story, you should not only read the masters of the short story, you should also read about how to write the short story.
And you should submit your work for publication. In this Internet age, a writer can easily publish his or her own work; but it’s only when someone else wants to publish the writer’s work that the writer knows the work has value for other people, too.
