If you are serious about being a writer (I mean really serious) and getting published and maybe making some money from your writing, it can be done.
I’ve done it.
Hello, my brother and sister writers. The decision to be a writer (no matter what) is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in life. It doesn’t rank up there with who you marry or even up there with who you fuck. It does rank up there with the kind of job you work; because a smart writer will make it a life-time goal to find a job that will allow him or her to write and to keep writing.
A writer needs a job (other than being a writer) or some kind of support that keeps him or her writing.
Publication and the possibility of making some money from writing will depend on the writer’s talent, perseverance and the writer’s ability to seek out and find markets for his or her work. Self-publication is always an option, but the writer had better be pretty good at self-promotion.
Here is the formula for success: read, study, write and submit.
Perseverance is definitely the key to success because writing is not a destination. It’s a journey. Enjoy the journey.

PS Of course, this post is just my opinion.
