Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers all over the world! Welcome to today’s edition of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, a girlie magazine for writers. Guy Hogan is my name and flash fiction is my game.
How’s everyone doing?
I’m doing well. I got no aches or pains and I have a very modest but secure income that allows me to take care of my basic needs and to party hearty for the first half of every month. What do I do the second half of every month? I take care of those things that I neglect to take care of the first half of every month. You know, like cleaning my grubby little apartment and filling out forms that low-income retirees have to fill out and stuff like that.
Well, I’m going to get an early start on November. I’ll have some fun money this week. I may even be able to go to karaoke at Nico’s in Little Italy this Saturday. We’ll see.
But enough about my dysfunctional lifestyle…
A first-time visitor to the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette might wonder, what the hell is this blog about? A first-time visitor sees all these photos of naked women and all these posts about The Doors and crock pot cooking and shopping at discount stores and drinking at my favorite bar (Armand’s in Little Italy) and karaoke as an art form and movie reviews and celebrity news…The list of subjects covered by my little girlie magazine goes on and on and on. I like to think that the eclectic format of The Gazette is what makes it so much fun to read. I mean I like to read it. I know I know I know. It’s like a comedian laughing at his own jokes.
But let there be no doubt about what is at the core of this magazine. It is perfectly stated in the recently updated Mission Statement.
To introduce the craft and art of flash fiction (and how to write it) to as many people as possible.
You can find the Mission Statement in the header under Guy Hogan
Well, whether it’s the first half of the month or the last half of the month, I still have a magazine to publish. I keep track of how I’m doing by the stats I get from Google Analytics. There is a Google Analytics chart right on my WordPress Dashboard. Here are the stats of my little girlie magazine for the past 30 days.
Here’s my total traffic for the past seven days.
Spank my bare bottom and call me a nudist. You know you can’t beat that with a stick!
Not bad. Not bad at all for a little niche blog. The stock of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette continues to rise. And I thank you all; because an online girlie magazine ain’t shit if nobody reads it.
That’s all I have for you right now. It’s still dark outside. I think I’ll post this and take a quick power nap before the day really begins. Be sure to check the front page. You may have missed something.

Today in Pittsburgh there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine with a high around 60.
