Hello hello hello, everybody everywhere and welcome to the Pittsburgh Adult which is an online magazine of culture for adults only and I am your Baby Boomer Papa reporting for duty on what is a day in Pittsburgh with a 90% chance of rain and a high of 53 which is really warm for Pittsburgh in January but I’ll take it because the older I get the less I like ice and snow on the ground.
When I was young ice and snow on the ground didn’t bother me but now that I’m not young I don’t bounce as well as I did when I was young so the less ice and snow on the ground the better I like it but rain is okay even though I won’t be going for any long walks today in the rain when I can stay inside and take up my favorite position on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and to play classical music low on the radio and to continue to read the four books I have checked out from the public library:
- Post Office by Charles Bukowski
- On The Road by Jack Kerouac
- Kerouac (The Definitive Biography) by Paul Maher Jr
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
The only one of these books that I haven’t already read several times before is the biography of Kerouac which is turning out to be a well-written and well-documented book on the life and work and times of Jack Kerouac who has impacted the way I blog now because I’ve adapted Kerouac’s idea about spontaneous writing which means writing or in my case blogging without premeditation for the writer or the blogger simply sits down at his or her laptop and starts typing away putting down whatever comes to mind which for me makes blogging a pure joy and of course after I type up a blog post in this way I go back over it to make sure it makes sense and I correct any grammatical mistakes but that’s it and that’s much more fun for me than agonizing over every sentence like I use to do and I also think it’s much more fun for you my readers too…

Yes! yes! yes! and double yes the numbers for the Pittsburgh Adult continue to go up and up and up and I thank each and everyone of you who visit my little online girlie magazine and this makes me want to get up every morning and to do my best to entertain or inform or maybe even inspire those of you who can relate to what I’m trying to do with this blog.
Well all the beer in my refrigerator is gone and yesterday I spent the last of my fun money for this month at Armand’s in Little Italy on two 16-ounce cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon which were delicious as I sat on a high stool at the bar near the big front window and watched Liberty Avenue while game shows played on the television at my end of the bar and I won’t have anymore fun money until Thursday when I’ll be back on my regular beat in Little Italy looking for inspiration at the bottom of a can of beer so in the meantime explore the site and check out some videos or short stories or blog posts about how to write flash fiction or how to save money shopping at discount stores or what it’s like to walk around the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the summer time…
Hail to Pitt!
