Whoa it’s cold outside! The man on the radio says the high today in the Pittsburgh area will be 21 with a wind chill factor of 8 to 14 and a mix of clouds and sunshine.
Only a fool would go outside today if he or she doesn’t have to go outside. I guess I’m a fool because after I publish this post I’m going to hustled into Little Italy for a couple of beers at Armand’s and to bring back a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon beers to sip on for the next few days as I continue to read the 1957 novel On The Road by Jack Kerouac which I checked out of the public library a few days ago. I’m reading the novel for maybe the fifth time in the past five years.
My life as a retired baby boomer who is now a full-time professional blogger is not as exciting as Kerouac’s life was around the time he wrote On The Road, but his autobiographical writing style and “spontaneous writing”method are an inspiration to me as a blogger. Because of On The Road I blog about my thoughts and the everyday ordinary events of my life and when I sit down at the keyboard of my laptop I just type away without premeditation in the same way Kerouac said he wrote On The Road. It’s very liberating. And besides there are plenty of other posts on this site about how to write flash fiction and about karaoke as an art form and just for fun and Naked News and Mr Skin videos and short stories and topless women and lots of other things to supplement my blog posts about the mundane details of my life. Even the posts about the mundane details of my life give you an insight into what it’s really like to be the editor/publisher of a blog that averages 225 visitors every day and between 800 to 1,000 page views every day.
Hail to Pitt!
