Do you publish a blog? We bloggers are very much a part of the new media. And what is the new media? It’s the media that comes to us over the Internet. Now every media has its stars. My blog and your blog don’t compare with let’s say the Huffington Post or Daily Beast, but we do our part. Our blogs offer insights, information and entertainment just like the big-time new media. We small-time bloggers have our niches or beats to cover, too.
My blog covers writing. And I don’t see the Huffington Post or the Daily Beast reporting on Little Italy here in Pittsburgh; but the New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette does.
If you publish a blog, I just want you to realize that you are very much a part of the new media. Most of the old, mainstream media (what’s left of it) is moving to the Internet; or, it’s moving large parts of its production to the Internet because the world-wide web as a distribution network is dirt cheap.
So, there you are, a blogger, getting your message out to the world at the cost of an Internet connection. Your blog (and mine) and 10s of millions of other blogs like ours are the rich soil that the new media has sprung from.
Bloggers, the Old Soldier salutes you!
If you would like to do a guest post on the New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, I’d love to see it.
Your post could be about your own blog or the eBook you want to promote; or, it could be a commentary about something you feel strongly about.
Just click on the “Write A Letter To The Editor” tab in the masthead and follow the guidelines.
