Hello hello hello all you rock ‘n’ rollers and welcome to Pittsburgh’s premiere online magazine of culture for adults only and of course we cover other things that may not be culture for adults only but may still be of interest to the readers of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette like blogging for money…I guess blogging for money is not culture but business and I blog for money and I’m finally making some money and all the experts on blogging say that you have to offer solutions to real problems if you want to expand your readership and even though this blog is about culture for adults only which really means it’s about entertainment I do feel I have to offer some hands-on solutions to real problems and my experiences as a blogger trying to make money from this blog can offer insights into real solutions to real problems.
One way to make money from your blog is to become a member of an affiliate program which really means you run ads on your blog for more successful sites but the trick is to make sure that the affiliate program fits the thing or things you blog about and I was real lucky to stumble across the Mr. Skin/Naked News affiliate program because the program and The Gazette were a perfect fit…Then I had to increase my views and that took a real commitment on my part which in practical terms meant I had to blog often enough and the word length of each blog post had to be long enough to get a good page ranking from Google which after several months of experimentation on my part and several stops and starts on my part meant for me a 1,000 to 1,200 word-post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a blog post of 500 to 700 words all the other days of the week and I’m happy to report that the views for this blog for the past 30 days are 1,115 views every day.
Earlier this year I received a check from Mr. Skin/Naked News for $74.73 and at first I thought that was going to be it for this year which was a disappointment but that was before I instituted my new regimen of blog post productivity and word length and now I’m happy to announce that a check for $66.66 will be released to me within the next 18 days…My only qualm is will I be able to maintain this level of production which brings me to the state of my self-discipline especially when I have fun money in my pocket at the beginning of each month…If there was ever a real good reason for me to drink with more moderation this is it…Just by the nature of the Internet if I can keep up with this level of productivity my page ranking will continue to rise and more eyeballs will be brought to this site and I’ll sale even more subscriptions…My goal is to get a check from my affiliate network every month but that means my account must have at least $50.00 in it every month and forgive me for being giddy but I can’t help but to feel I’m getting closer and closer inch by inch to my goal of being a “successful” blogger.
Now that I’ve spent my fun money for November and I’m not hanging out in Little Italy it’s time to get back to work which for me means blogging every day and I did get a chance to take a nice walk today to the main branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh which is across the street from Schenley Plaza and is surrounded by the campus of the University of Pittsburgh because it is such a beautiful day in The ‘Burgh with a high around 58 and plenty yes plenty of sunshine…I could have gone for my walk yesterday because yesterday was about the same but I was too lazy and just listened to football on the radio all day long as I was flat on my back with two pillows under my weary head as I finished reading my novels by Charles Bukowski…Charles Bukowski has really opened my eyes which is kind of strange since this is not the first time I’ve read novels the very same novels by Bukowski that I’m reading now…I just guess you have to be ready to truly learn what an author has to offer and now I guess I’m ready and it’s the same way for me with Jack Kerouac because I’ve read his work several times but it was only this last time oh I would say within the last 30 days that something clicked for me and here I am using Kerouac’s “spontaneous” writing method to release my own inner flow of words in the way that he wrote On The Road and his method of writing is a heaven sent for me because I could never pound out the number of blog posts at the word lengths they have to be for this blog to achieve 30,000 to 40,000 views every month if I were still blogging the old way…And I know “spontaneous” writing is not for everyone but my brothers and sisters so far it sure is for me.
Today I checked out from the public library Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski and Lonesome Traveler by Jack Kerouac…Happy days I feel like a real professional blogger/writer and come to think of it I am a real professional blogger/writer and now if I can only maintain my professionalism when I get my fun money the first day of next month even though both my heroes drank too much so I really can’t use them as examples of moderate drinking although I can certainly use them as examples of professionalism and perseverance…Well I’m going to publish this and then find something conducive to reading on the radio and I’m going take up my favorite position on the sofa flat on my back with two pillows under my weary head and get back to my reading.
