It’s 9:15 a.m. and I’ve been at my workstation since 6:00 a.m. and the local 24/7 all news station has been low on the radio since before I woke up and not once has there been any mention of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Hello hello hello, all you rock ‘n’ roller! Your friendly smut blogger is reporting for duty.
One subject the local 24/7 all news station is broadcasting about is Bitcoins. I was watching Bloomberg TV on the internet yesterday. Bloomberg TV focuses on anything that deals with the world of finance like the world-wide market of bonds and stocks and futures…You know, Big Money. Well, yesterday one of the things Bloomberg TV covered was Bitcoins. Now I’m still not sure what Bitcoins are or how they work, but their monetary value has exploded. Why do I follow Bloomberg TV? I sure as hell don’t have any big money. I follow Bloomberg TV to keep informed. To try to understand the world we live in. I even fall asleep on the sofa with Bloomberg Radio low on my CD/Radio player.
And the effort to try to educate myself on Big Money gives me something else to blog about. This is what Wikipedia has to say about the word Bitcoin:
“Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency – the system works without a central repository or single administrator.”
Hummmmmm, sounds shady to me.
Out And About
Well, I’ve already put up a new Naked News video this morning and changed around a few things on the front page and I’ve made my run around the internet checking my Tumblr and Twitter accounts and the news outlets I like to read and now I’m going to publish this post and shower and dress and stroll into Little Italy for a couple of beers at Armand’s and to socialize with any of the regulars that come in. I won’t be stopping in at Sonny’s on the way back because whereas Armand’s opens around 10:30 a.m. and I can depend on a motley crew of regulars to be there or to drift in as soon as I get there, Sonny’s opens at 11:30 a.m. but no one shows up until like three in the afternoon.
By three in the afternoon today I want to be flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head reading the short novel The Old Man And The Sea (Hemingway), the mystery novel Longshot (Dick Francis) and the short story collection Signals (Tim Gautreaux) while sipping on several glasses of beer. All three books were due back at the public library in a few days and I renewed each book yesterday by phone. So, I have some serious reading ahead of me. I don’t want to renew them again.
Hail to Pitt!
“I took early retirement and the first few years were really tough. I nearly lost my apartment, the shabby but cozy apartment I live in now. I had social security but making ends meet was rough even with the temporary dead-end jobs I could scrounge up to work at; but when I found out I was also eligible for a pension from the Veterans Administration everything fell into place. Now I can concentrate on being a full-time professional blogger.”–Guy Hogan
