Welcome to the City of Pittsburgh’s premiere online magazine of culture for adults only! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game. It will be another glorious summer day in The ‘Burgh today, sunny with a high around 90. Hot!
I’ll be back on my regular beat in Little Italy the first day of August 2016 (in just a few days), sipping beer at Armand’s and singing karaoke at Sonny’s the first Sunday night of August; but right now I’m enjoying the serenity of my last few days of my downtime for this month by getting some quality blogging and library book reading done.
And I have plenty of time for reflection about the state of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. Yesterday, The Gazette got 972 page views. I’m definitely happy about that; but my average for this month is still 912 page views every day. The needle didn’t move much. Still, I’m within striking distance of my stated goal of making 1,000 page views every day my baseline.
As I obsess over my page views during this downtime, I also relax by assuming my favorite position (flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head) while I listen to Pirates baseball on the radio as I watch surf movies on YouTube.
I just like the images of the movies: the beach, the sunshine, the white surf and the blue of the water, the speed of the surfers and there’s no need for a sound track. The ballgame on the radio is the sound track. And if a thought about life or The Gazette pops into my mind I can follow that thought to its conclusion without losing the narrative of the ballgame or of the surf movie. Sweet!
Hail to Pitt!
