I’m having a quiet afternoon working on this blog, promoting it on Twitter and listening to Pirates baseball on the radio. I saw a tweet on Tweeter that had the term “Writer’s Block” in it and that got me to thinking about writer’s block.
I use to really get frustrated when I got writer’s block. I mean I’m a writer. Being a writer defines who I am.
Well, my days of frustration because of writer’s block are long gone. Oh, I still get writer’s block, but now I don’t let it upset me. I’ve come to learn to embrace my writer’s block. Because I know, after more than 40 years of being a writer, that my next period of productivity is just on the other side of my writer’s block. All I have to do is keep living my life and wait for it.
So, my advice to you is to accept, no embrace, the fact that writer’s block (if you get writer’s block) is a part of the creative process. If you can you will be a much happier writer.
Your next great creative writing idea is just around the corner.
