The Old Soldier got some unexpected fun money late this afternoon.
I walked to Armand’s Bar in Little Italy. And I sat on a high stool at the bar next to the window in Armand’s and sipped my glass of beer and watched Liberty Avenue and enjoyed that feeling you have when you get unexpected fun money to spend anyway you want to spend it. Several of the regulars were in the bar. The windows of the stores that I could see along Liberty Avenue were full of Christmas lights which seemed very friendly in the late afternoon of an overcast sky on a chilly December in Pittsburgh.
I had just come from the VA Hospital and had been assured that if (when) I ever needed hospital care, all my hospital care would be free.
Vietnam seemed very far away.
I shot the breeze and drank beer and ate peanuts and got a six-pack to go.
