It’s a beautiful day in The ‘Burgh. I’m relaxing; doing a little blogging and doing a little re-tweeting and doing a little reading: “THE SPARTANS, The World of The Warrior-Heroes of Ancient Greece by Paul Cartledge” that I checked out from the public library a couple of days ago. I’m also listening to 93.7 FM The Fan, the 24/7 local sports talk radio station. The topic? The postmortem of the Penguins’ season.
But I’m a casual sports fan. I use to be a hardcore sports fan many years ago when I was caught up in the city’s sports craze built around the Steelers and the Pirates and the Penguins and the Pitt Panthers.
Now I’m caught up in my own craze: blogging. And hanging out in Little Italy feeds my blogging.
I may get some fun money Wednesday afternoon; but I’ll definitely have some fun money Thursday morning (I’m retired). Which means I will probably be in Armand’s on Liberty Avenue Thursday morning. Armand’s opens around 10:00 a.m. Why would I be in a bar at ten in the morning?
I usually start working on this blog before dawn. By 10:00 a.m. I think I’ve earned a few beers.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
Hail to Pitt!
