Hello hello hello, new and returning visitors! Guy Hogan is my name and blogging is my game. This blog, the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, is a combination diary and smut magazine. Forgive my braggadocio, but I think the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is unique in the area of online publications for adults.
Let’s just say I’m proud of my little online publication…
I’m a retired baby boomer which allows me to be a full-time professional blogger. Being retired gives me a modest (since I was low-income while I was in the workforce) but secure income and the time I need to work on this blog. Of course, to maintain the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette means I consume far more content than I produce.
I have a Tumblr and Twitter account. I checkout the blogs of other bloggers. I’m constantly checking out online publications like the Huffington Post, The Daily Beast, The Hill, Slate, Salon, The National Review and other news outlets. I like to read about the world we live in, especially about politics. I try to keep politics out of The Gazette. Politics is too divisive, but I’m still a political junkie and I need my fix.
I watch Bloomberg TV on the Internet even though I own no stocks or bonds. My radio is usually tuned to the news or to sports during daylight hours or to old time radio at night. I like the comedies and the detective shows the best. I like the westerns and the superheroes, too. I sleep on the sofa with the radio on low. Bloomberg Radio starts to broadcast after midnight. A little of this content may find its way into the pages of this blog.
I spend a lot of time on YouTube, listening to music videos and watching old movies. A lot of this stuff does find its way into the pages of this blog. (Behind the scenes I have to fix broken links and constantly update the plug-ins of my diary/magazine.) I also blog about Pittsburgh in general and my two favorite bars in the Bloomfield (Little Italy) neighborhood in Pittsburgh. I blog about Sonny’s Tavern where I sing karaoke the first Sunday night of every month and I blog about Armand’s. At Sonny’s I get to hangout with people in their 20s and 30s for the most part. At Armand’s I get to hangout with people around my own age, a few who served in Vietnam like I did.
So, being the editor/publisher of The Gazette is not as glamorous as you may think it is, but I love my job and I’m getting better at it little by little. The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette (after I paid for hosting and daily backup and for my domain name and for the erotic fiction by contributors who I paid $25.00 a pop for each story) will end 2017 with a net profit of $55.00…
I know a net profit of $55.00 ain’t much, but I hope to do better next year. A lot better.
And now that I’ve finally agreed to let the management of my apartment building clean my carpet after about 15 years in the same apartment and I found a squeegee I can use on my windows which have not been cleaned for five years (I hope I don’t lean too far out to fall on my head two stories to the ground), my apartment will be just as cozy but a lot less shabby. Feeling better about my apartment should help me feel even better about being a full-time professional blogger.
Hail to Pitt!
Today in Pittsburgh there will be periods of rain with a high of 55. All photos of Emiliya Duma were sampled from Egoallstars. Become a regular visitor to the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. Bookmark it or follow it or take out a free email subscription today!
