Dateline Pittsburgh: 10:00 a.m.
Now that I have a squeegee and can reach the outside upper panes of glass of the two windows in my living room/kitchenette to properly clean the windows I just have to wait for the weather to get warm enough to do the deed which means I may not clean my windows until spring. But what’s a few more months when I haven’t cleaned my windows in years? I’m not as spry as I use to be and the windows are on the second floor. Or as the building manager said to me when I told her of my plans to clean my windows, “Be careful.” I knew exactly what she meant. Falling two stories on my head is not going to do my blogging any good…
The man on the radio is constantly warning people to dress for the weather, that it’s dangerous outside. Today in the Pittsburgh area there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine with a high of 18. I may run out to get a Pittsburgh City Paper to check on the local culture and local politics and local social activism since the weekly is free and it may give me some ideas to blog about, but that’s it. I have plenty of can goods and dry goods and food in the refrigerator along with seven 12-ounce cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and the radiator heat in my small apartment is included in the rent and the heat is excellent. Sometimes it’s too excellent, but I can always fiddle with the knobs. Better to be too warm than too cold.
The State Of The PFFG
If we count today there are only four days left in 2017. What is the state of my little diary/smut magazine? I am happy to report that the state of this blog is excellent. After around 14 years of blogging with the last four years as the editor/publisher of this version of the PFFG I have definitely found my sea legs as a retired baby boomer who is also a full-time professional blogger.
The projected operating cost of the PFFG for 2018 is $300.00 which will cover hosting, daily backup, domain name and at least four erotic stories from the two writers I’ll be working with next year. Those two writers are Jean Michelle and Heather Kinnane. They are both talented writers and I’ve worked with them before and plan to work with them again. And because of three life-time subscriptions to Mr Skin/Naked News taken out this month through the PFFG, I’ve already covered half of the operating cost of the PFFG for next year.
You know you can’t beat that with a stick!
The PFFG is a business like any other business. I must cover my cost and then hope to make a profit. I want to thank my three subscribers for their life-time subscriptions and hope you serve as an example for others. You rock!
So, if I continue to blog the first thing when I get up in the morning and if I continue to keep abreast of what’s going on in the world beyond Pittsburgh and if I keep my eyes and ears open as I live my life in Pittsburgh and if I remain committed to the craft of blogging and writing fiction and my health and luck hold up, the year 2018 will allow me to continue to entertain and inform and maybe even to inspire you.
Hail to Pitt!
“I’m lucky. I know how lucky I am. I know how lucky I am to be healthy enough to enjoy my retirement. Many of my contemporaries, those who have survived, are not as lucky as I am.”–Guy Hogan
“This is post #2,532. I’ve established a firm beachhead on the internet. Now I must concentrate on finding a place to breakout of my beachhead and to drive inland as swiftly as possible. Even military history can teach you how to be a more successful blogger if you are willing to learn and are teachable. As of this morning this blog is averaging 970 page views every day for December 2017.”–Guy Hogan
“‘All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.’ So finally I would write one true sentence, and then go on from there. It was easy then because there was always one true sentence that I knew or had seen or had heard someone say.”–Ernest Hemingway
