When I speak of sex as art and entertainment, I’m speaking about the flash fiction stories of writers like Heather Kinnane. Heather lives in Australia.
Hello hello hello, all my fans of flash fiction who live all over the world! Guy Hogan is my name and flash fiction is my game.
It is an absolutely beautiful afternoon in The ‘Burgh. Not a cloud in the sky and the high in the 70s. I just came back from Armand’s in Little Italy. I had only two beers and I left. Maybe this is the beginning of better self-control on the part of the Old Soldier. I hope so. My fun money will last longer.
And tomorrow night I’ll be at Nico’s in Little Italy for karaoke. I’ve been doing my breathing and stretching exercises all week-long and all day today I walked around outside singing the words of the two songs low to myself that I’ll be singing tomorrow night. All the better to be able to face the audience and not look at the monitor.
I did some shopping at the dollar store across the street today: laundry liquid, a package of three bars of soap and some anti-perspirant and all of it for under $6.00. You just have to know what to buy. Many of the other items were the same prices as a regular store.
Be sure to check out “Forbidden Desire” by Heather Kinnane on 1 September 2014. The story will be on the front page for only one day; so you don’t want to miss it.
This is the Old Soldier (I served in Vietnam) reporting for the PittsburghFlashFiction, an online magazine of commentary, pop culture, local interests and sex as art and entertainment.
