I’ve always been a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald. When I was a young writer trying to learn my craft, I would go to the main branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, which is about a twenty-minute walk from my apartment building, and go back into the stacks and pull out these big hard-cover books that had all the original back issues of the Saturday Evening Post and read his stories the way they appeared during his life time.
Over the years I’ve made a study of the man, his work and his times. I’ve seen movies based on his life and his work. And now I’m reading a new critical review: Gatsby, The Cultural History Of The Great American Novel by Bob Batchelor that I got from the library.
Once I finish the book, I’m sure I’ll re-read The Great Gatsby again. I must have already read the novel at least ten times.
Hello hello hello, all my fans of erotic flash fiction who live all over the world! Guy Hogan is my name and erotic flash fiction is my game.
It’s an overcast, mild (high in the 70s) day in the “Burgh today. There’s a chance I might get some fun money today by snail mail. A few cold beers at Armand’s in Little Italy would sure hit the spot. But if my fun money doesn’t come today, I have plenty of reading to keep me busy. I like to read three or four books at the same time.
Keep reading that erotic flash fiction. The front page changes every day so be sure to come back tomorrow. This is the Old Soldier reporting for the PittsburghFlashFiction, an online magazine of commentary, pop culture and sex as art and entertainment.
