“Talent is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.”–Anonymous.
I don’t know where I came across the above quote, but the message of the quote has guided me for years. Even during the years of what seemed like endless rejection notices, it gave me faith in myself as a writer because I believed in the message. It sustained me until finally after years of rejections I began to sell my flash fiction stories to a local print weekly and I won a fellowship, because of my flash fiction stories, that paid for my MFA and now I’m an entrepreneur: I publish an online magazine for adults who like to read flash fiction stories, especially erotic flash fiction stories.
The message of the quote can help you achieve success as a writer, too.
Hello hello hello, all my fans who live all over the world! The blogging day has begun.
It’s still dark outside. But the Old Soldier loves his job as a professional, full-time blogger. And I love encouraging other writers to pursue their dreams of publication and of supplementing their incomes with their writing. Supplementing your income by writing is doable. I’ve done it. I’m doing it now.
I’ve stated many times in the pages of this blog that 99% of all writers do not make a living from their writing. That’s a fact. But supplementing your income by writing is within the reach of every writer who is serious about writing. I’m not talking about writing as a hobby. I’m talking about writing as a passion. I’m talking about writing as a profession. If this is the kind of writing you want to do, and if you want to write erotic flash fiction, I can help you.
All you have to do is to read the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette on a regular basis. That’s it. Let my little girlie magazine be your University of Erotic Flash Fiction.
This magazine is a paying market; unfortunately, I can publish only a fraction of the submissions that I get. Still, what you can learn here about writing erotic flash fiction will be invaluable to you as you search out other markets for your sexy flash fiction.
Let the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette entertain, inform and inspire you.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for duty.
