That’s right! I just did some shopping at the dollar store across the street.
Hello hello hello, all you shoppers who live all over the world! You don’t have to be a struggling writer to save money at a dollar store. And you can save money shopping at a dollar store (the one across from my apartment building is Dollar General) if you keep just one important thing in mind.
Don’t get what you want. Get what you need.
It’s a beautiful morning in the neighborhood. There’s not a cloud in the sky and right now it’s a mild summery day. Later, the high will be around 87. Hot! I mailed two letters: a payment on my consolidated student loan (seriously, folks, I’ll never pay it off) and a contribution to the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign. Last month (it was actually at the beginning of this month) I contributed $5.00; but starting with today’s contribution I’m only going to contribute $3.00 every month. I’ll save $2.00 every month. I know some of you are thinking, don’t send him anything. I can’t do that.
This is what I bought at the dollar store.
- A Package of Bathroom Tissue (6 rolls): $1.00
- A Small Toothpaste: $1.25
- Twin Blade Disposable Razors (6): $1.00
- Noxzema Skin Cream (12 ounces): $4.00
- Laundry Liquid (45 ounces): $2.00
- Tax: 0.49
- Total: $9.74
You know you can’t beat that with a stick!
