Large patches of the sidewalks are covered with ice. It makes for treacherous walking.
The Old Soldier is back from a beer run to Armand’s on Liberty Avenue in Little Italy. As I walked across the bridge between North Oakland where I live and Little Italy where I drink, I had to hold on to the railing because of the impacted ice on the bridge. There was no wind, but the temperature was in the twenties and the ice was slippery under foot.
It was around 11:00 a.m. I got a stool near the window. There may have been four other customers at the other end of the bar. The television at their end was on. I sipped my draft beer and watched Liberty Avenue. The sky was overcast. Pedestrians were bundled up. The older people, like myself, walked carefully over the patches of ice.
My work on the magazines continues. When I was forced to move from .com to .net because I could not renew my old URL, the move broke every internal link on the site. My new host does not care about all the adult content. So far I’ve updated around 600 links. I figure I have another 1,000 to go before the magazine is up to full speed. I’ll wait until all the broken links are fixed before asking my contributors, subscribers and different directories to update their links to the magazine. This should be the last move of the magazine. I certainly hope so. I still plan to publish the erotic flash fiction of Anna Bayes and Bethany Sage later this month.
Well, after drinking my draft, I got a 12-pack case of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, 12-ounce cans, to go. And instead of walking over the ice back to my apartment, I waited for the bus.
Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the premiere online publication of erotica for men and women who enjoy art, creative writing, culture and explicit sex all in the pages of the same magazine.
