Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers all over the world! Welcome to Pittsburgh’s #1 topless magazine.
Yes, when I’m not hanging out in Little Italy drinking beer and thinking deep thoughts at Armand’s or singing karaoke at Nico’s, I have plenty of time to take an unhurried critical look at the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. Well, I’ve shortened the title on the front page to PittsburghFlash and changed the subtitle to A New Kind Of Topless Magazine.
There is method to my madness.
PittsburghFlash is, well, flashier. Why did I change the subtitle? I use to agonize over using words and terms that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) experts said you should use to get better page rankings. Well, this kind of blogging by the numbers messed with the flow of my creativity. Plus, it didn’t work. It didn’t work for me. I gave the system several months. Maybe I did it wrong. Whether I was doing it right or wrong, I still didn’t like it. It was too robotic.
So, I just blithely went on my merry way and this blog went from 1,685 visitors and 4,362 page views in January to 5,753 visitors and 15,870 page views last month.
I must be doing something right.
But I’m not so arrogant (or clueless) as to believe I have all the answers. I often sit at my workstation or stare out the window for long periods of time wondering how the hell am I going to take this blog from here to there metaphorically speaking…
I’ve noticed for a long time that the number #1 search term people use to find this blog always has the word “topless” in it: topless actress, topless model, topless woman…Last night I punched up my stats page and clicked on Summaries for my Search Engine Terms for 7 Days, 30 Days, Quarter and Year. And there it was again. The number one word people were using to find this blog was “topless.”
The name of this blog is still the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette; but the title at the top of the page is now PittsburghFlash and the subtitle is now A New Kind Of Topless Magazine.
This is Guy Hogan reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.
Today in Pittsburgh there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine and the high will be around 62.
Hail to Pitt!
PS It’s still strange about the search term “topless.” I Googled “topless” and looked at several pages and this site did not come up. Oh, well, I can’t explain it. All I know is it’s the number #1 word people use to find this site.
