Writing is a journey, not a destination. You never get there. If you are serious about writing, the journey could last a life time. During this journey, you will discover many things about yourself; because no matter what stories we writers tell about the world, we’re really writing about ourselves: our fears, our hopes, our needs and our wants.
That’s okay. Our readers have a lot of the same fears, hopes, needs and wants. People are people.
Some of us on our journey will make some money as writers. A tiny minority will make a living as writers. All of us will enrich the lives of others and ourselves through writing. Writing is one of those vocations that you get back more than what you put into it.
When I meet people for the first time, I don’t tell them I’m retired. I tell them I’m a writer. And I have a book of short stories to prove it. I’m not proud of being retired. I am proud of being a writer.
So, enjoy your journey as a writer. Read better writers and study your craft. Always strive to be the best writer you can be. Because in some deep, unexplainable way, you are really striving to be a better human being.
Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister readers and writers of erotic flash fiction from all over the world! The wind and snow are whipping around outside and the Old Soldier has become a real home body. I ain’t goin’ out in that shit.
I’m getting February’s issue ready for publication. I’m happy to report that I’ll be introducing a new, talented erotic flash fiction writer to the readers of this magazine. Her name is Bethany Sage and her story is “Learning From Amateurs.” I hope to publish several more of Bethany’s stories in 2014.
I also have another story by Anna Bayes ready to go. Anna has appeared several times in the pages of this publication. Her stories exemplify sex as entertainment and art.
And there will be another report by me on karaoke as performance art along with a steady stream of other reports on topics that I hope will keep you happy and satisfied throughout the month of February whether there is rain, snow or sunshine where you live.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the premiere online magazine of erotica for men and women who appreciate art, creative writing, culture and explicit sex all in the pages of the same magazine.
