Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers!
It’s your favorite editor/publisher here reporting for duty. It’s a lovely afternoon in The ‘Burgh, sunny and a high around 55.
Well, I enjoyed my recent two days of fun at Armand’s in Little Italy and now I’m staying close to home base, recharging my batteries by assuming my favorite position flat on my back on the sofa and reading the books I checked out from the public library and listening to classical music on the radio. Sometimes I just have to turn off the local 24/7 all news station on the radio: too much bad news.
Last night I treated myself to the classic Alfred Hitchcock film Frenzy on YouTube. It’s always good to expose yourself to the work of another master in any field of endeavor if you’re a writer (or a blogger). You can learn so much if you can extrapolate the lessons of that person’s art for your own art. Remember, I use to be a Super 8 filmmaker way back in the day. My experience as a Super 8 filmmaker gave me the idea to make my alter-ego a man who shoots gangbang videos…
So, I’m just chillin’ for the next few days. I still do my deep breathing and stretching exercises every morning except on Sundays. One part of the exercises calls for me to hold my breath for 30 beats. When I sing karaoke I never run out of breath. I never get winded. Not bad for a baby boomer. I’ll be back on my beat in Little Italy (Armand’s for drinking and thinking and Nico’s for karaoke) next week.
This is Guy Hogan reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the city’s only magazine of commentaries, culture, short stories and topless women.
Hail to Pitt!
