One of my favorite bands is The Animals. Yes, the Old Soldier has karaoke on his mind. I plan to be at Nico’s in Bloomfield (Little Italy) Saturday night for karaoke, not only as an observer, but as a participant, too. I’ve been doing my breathing and stretching exercises and I have two songs by The Animals (We Gotta Get Out of This Place and Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood) picked out and ready to go. I know every word.
For those of you who want to be more than just karaoke singers, but who want to be performance artists, memorizing the lyrics is a must. That way you can direct all your energy toward the audience. Of course, you have to be a relatively good singer, too.
But as I’ve stated before in this publication, if karaoke was about good singing, there would be no karaoke. Karaoke is about drinking and having fun.
That’s why if a person is a good singer and also goes to the extra length of memorizing the words, his or her performance really stands. For the Old Soldier, karaoke is also a marketing device. I’ll have several business cards in my pocket and if I find myself in a situation to talk about the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, I will.
The Animals are a part of my marketing campaign.
Hello, my brother and sister readers and writers from all over the world. As soon as I post this I’m going to walk to the public library and turn in my overdue books. Compared to the past 48 hours, the weather is almost balmy outside. The high will be in the 30s with hardly any wind.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to put up another post today when I return.
Be sure to check out all the great erotic flash fiction on this site. This is the Old Soldier reporting from near the University of Pittsburgh.
