(Editor’s Note: This blog post was first published 7 October 2016.)
Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! The Old Soldier has been AWOL for a few days, but now I’m reporting back for duty. I’ve had a great time the first six days of this month. Actually, too great of a time. The first week of every month (when I get my social security and my two pension checks) I go berserk looking for good times which really means karaoke at Sonny’s Tavern in Little Italy the first Sunday of every month and then chilling out at Armand’s in Little Italy. I’ve done no blogging for several days.
Well, it’s time for me to get back to work. It will take me a few days to get back up to speed; but if I may repeat a saying that Hemingway was supposed to have said, “You have to live it up in order to write it down.” I don’t know if he actually said it. I guess I could Google it; but you get my point.
Let’s start off with karaoke at Sonny’s Tavern in Little Italy the first Sunday night of this month. The place was packed. Now I don’t know if it was packed because the Steelers were on the television at 8:30 that night or if the place was just packed because Sunday night karaoke at Sonny’s is becoming more and more popular. I walked in. Both televisions were on, but turned to mute and I played the TVs no more attention. I don’t even know if the game was on the TVs. I had no interest in the game and apparently neither did the crowd.
Fine with me. I ignored the TVs.
Statistics For September 2016
I have often stated in this blog that my immediate goal is to get at least 1,000 pageviews everyday. Why? I’ll sale more eBooks and more subscriptions from Mr. Skin/Naked News which means I’ll get some financial relief from investing $160.00 every year into this blog and I’ll be able to reopen Submissions and to published more paid contributors to this blog (more erotic flash fiction from all over the world).
So far my immediate goal of 1,000 pageviews everyday still alludes me. I’ll keep adding new content to this blog and hope that an increased presence on the Internet will inch me closing to 1,000 pageviews every day. Here are my stats for September 2016. You would be surprised how just a 20 pageview increase everyday will jump you over thousands of other blogs on the Internet. The search engines will drive dozens if not hundreds of more visitors to your blog everyday.
Spank my bare bottom and call me a nudist. You know you can’t beat that with a stick!
Pageviews For September 2016: 26,015
Visitors For September 2016: 7,243
Average Page Views Everyday For September 2016: 867
Posts Published For September 2016: 34
Views Per Visitor For September 2016: 3.59
So, there you have it. My plan is to keep adding posts to this blog in order to slowly increase my presence on the Internet. My problem is all of the experts say that my blog posts should be at least 1,500 to 2,500 words long to get the kind of page ranking that I’m obsessed with. But my natural inclination is to write short blog posts. I’m a flash fiction writer. I’m lucky if my posts are 600 words long. And there are other blogs that are strictly flash: flash stories, flash interviews, flash non-fiction that get a lot more pageviews everyday than I do. I’m going to stick with my strength.
Wish me luck.
Other Bits & Pieces
We’re supposed to get some rain later today in the Pittsburgh area, but this morning when I took a bus to the supermarket in Little Italy (ShureSave) the sun was shinning and it was a balmy 70-75 outside. But the supermarket was closed. There was a movie being shot at the supermarket. The Outsider which is a serial on TV and I’ve never heard of since the only time I watch television is when I’m in a bar because I found that I get a great deal more done as a blogger/writer without a television. I never replaced my old TV. I did get a free hotdog at the supermarket since the store was giving away free food. I guest the free food was a way to promote the movie and the store. I strolled down to Armand’s for a couple of beers as I munched on my hotdog on one of the most beautiful days this year.
