This site is about creative writing, culture and sex.
The main campus of the University of Pittsburgh is my neighbor; but I hang out in Little Italy (Bloomfield) which is about a ten-minute walk from my apartment building.
When I report on Little Italy, I report on it as a writer. So that’s okay. This site is about a writer publishing an online magazine for other writers.
Hello hello hello, my brother and sister readers and writers. This is the Old Soldier reporting from Armand’s Bar (home of the biggest fish sandwich in the city) in Little Italy. I’ll transcribe this latter to the magazine. Right now I’m sitting at the bar, drinking beer, writing on a piece of paper and watching The Pittsburgh Pirates on television. It’s an early game. It’s around 2:00 on a hot, sunny afternoon.
I’m munching on some Slim Jims, if you know what they are (small sticks of soft beef jerky, I’m guessing). There are only a few people in the bar. I mean it is in the middle of the afternoon. Gale is behind the bar. She’s around my age (66). We baby boomers simply refuse to go quietly into that dark night. Rage, rage, rage against the fading of the light. Of course, I’m paraphrasing, but I don’t remember who I’m paraphrasing.
This is a time of reflection for me as I recover from my old site being deactivated for too much sex and try to rebuild a new site with HostGator who will allow me to put as much adult content on this site as I like.
I am evolving from a blogger to a webmaster, because a lot of the technical stuff I took for granted as a blogger, I now have to do myself as a webmaster. But the people at HostGator are holding my hand. They have been with me every step of the way. I even have the chance of making some good money as an affiliate.
I can’t wait for next month. That’s when I’ll be at Nico’s in Little Italy, the #1 karaoke bar in the city for the past 10 years. I’ll be reporting on karaoke as performance art.
