If you scan down the sidebar of this blog you will find two categories that deal with the writing of flash fiction: Days To Writing Better Flash Fiction and How To Write Flash Fiction For Fun And Profit. In the first category are seven blog posts and in the second category are a whopping 143 blog posts.
I have put into these 150 blog posts just about everything I know about flash fiction, everything from characterization, diction, syntax, dialogue, concrete sense details, pacing to description, form and the setup, buildup and payoff. I base my insights about flash fiction on over 40 years of writing experience (rejection notices and sales) and what professors at the University of Pittsburgh, many of them well known and respected writers, could teach me as I worked on my BA (2003) and my MFA (2006). I relate these facts not to brag, but to establish my credentials. I know a little bit about writing flash fiction. So, if you are interested in flash fiction, either as a reader or a writer, you’ve come to the right place.
