So far it’s been an overcast day in The ‘Burgh and the forecast is for more of the same with a high around 85 and occasional rain showers throughout the day.
Overcast, rainy weather bums me out. But the show must go on. The show will go on! Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! Welcome to the only girlie magazine on the Internet (the only one that I know of) that deals with blogging, karaoke, movies, sexy stories, television and topless women as its core subjects. I think the word I’m looking for is “eclectic.” I knew that college education would come in handy one day. I know. I know. I know. I make a better blogger than I do a funnyman. At least I hope I’m a better blogger than a funnyman.
Well, I’m enjoying my downtime from my regular beat in Little Italy. I can pay more attention to The Gazette. I Google things like, “how to drive more traffic to your blog” or “the history of the girlie magazine” or I’ll put in the search term “naked news 2016” just to see where this blog ranks. It usually ranks at the bottom of the first page. I try to learn my trade as a blogger.
Last night I found myself listening to Pirates baseball on the radio. I refuse to buy another television because I get so much more reading and blogging done without the distraction of a television. I depend on Naked News to keep me informed about what’s happening on television or rather cable television. I don’t think there’s nudity on regular television, is there? But last night the work day was done and I was flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head, listening to Pirates baseball on the radio and watching YouTube videos on my desktop.
The Pirates are on the west coast and the game didn’t begin until 10:10 p.m. local time. When the Pirates are on the radio, I like to watch images while I listen to the game. So I punch up videos on YouTube to watch as I listen. I don’t need a sound track. So I watch silent films or surfing films or women doing nude yoga; and I think. I think about the strange life I’m living and I think about what songs of The Doors I’ll sing at karaoke (Sonny’s Tavern the first Sunday night of next month) when I’m back on my regular beat in Little Italy in 15 more days and I think a lot about this online girlie magazine.
I think about the direction of the magazine and its content and how I can make it a better reading experience. The Pirates won last night. But whether or not the team wins or who they play is not what’s really important. What’s really important is that in the cocoon of my dark living room/kitchenette with the cicadas loudly calling to each other outside my windows and with the game on the radio and the images rushing by on my computer screen, I’m able to see the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette more clearly…
Hail to Pitt!
