For some female celebrities, nudity seems to be a rite of passage. I am not complaining. Where would this publication be without nude women? Nowhere, that’s where.
Well, Miley Cyrus has been moving towards full disclosure for some time now. So, thanks to the people at Egotastic!, here she is. Enjoy.
Hello, all my fans of flash fiction who live all over the world! The Old Soldier is off to a late start today. I just had to get out into this wonderful late summer weather we’re having in The ‘Burgh today, sunny, breezy and warm (80s) since I couldn’t think of anything to blog about anyway.
I strolled into Little Italy and stopped at Armand’s for a quick beer, a little conversation and then paid for a six-pack to go. I also picked up the latest edition of the CityPaper.
When I got back to my workstation, I still didn’t have an idea of what to blog about. So, I scanned the CityPaper. It comes out every Wednesday and I never miss an issue. I would say that the paper deals with local politics, culture and the arts. The paper often gives me ideas to blog about. The CP is good at investigative reporting and hard news which are things I neither have the connections or the resources to do. I’m a blogger, a commentator.
One piece of hard news in this issue of the CP was about the city getting a new police chief (something I did not know) on September 15 because the old chief is serving time in a federal prison (something I did know) for diverting public funds into his own pockets. And of course there have been the usual accusations and high-profile cases over the years of police over reaction, police brutality and the lack of accountability of the police to the public it serves.
In other words, our police force is out of control. Sound familiar? So, according to the report in the CP, the question seems to be, will the new chief be able to reestablish trust between the Pittsburgh Police Department and the public it serves?
Like I said, I don’t report the news. I’m a blogger. I just comment on the news.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the PittsburghFlashFiction, an online magazine of commentary, local interests, pop culture and sex as art and entertainment.
