Yes, you can make money blogging. I’ve done it, but it’s not easy. Before my old blog was shut down because of too much sex, it was averaging over 700 pageviews every day and I was averaging around $25.00 every month. That’s not much money, but I had hopes of averaging more money every month as time went on. Now I have this blog, and since I’m self-hosting this blog I don’t have to worry about being shut down for too much sex; but I’m starting all over again.
I am in no way an expert on making money from a blog; but I’ll tell you what I know.
Your blog must have a focus. Readers come to your blog because of its focus. The content on your blog has to offer solutions or insights into things your core audience is interested in. The blogger who wants to make money from his or her blog must publish on a regular basis.
How much money a blogger can make depends mainly on pageviews. The more pageviews you have the more money you can make. Pageviews depend mainly on SEO. So, a blogger must learn to use SEO to his or her advantage.
My old blog made money from ads. But I think I’ll try an affiliate program for this blog. You make money from an affiliate program by promoting another, much more successful site. I’m researching other sites that have affiliate programs that my readers may be interested in; but I have to increase my pageviews. And that will take some time. I’m only averaging around 110 pageviews every day.
Every blog is not a good candidate for monetization. And there are bloggers who blog for fun and not for money. The nice thing about the Internet is that there is plenty of room for all kinds of bloggers.
