AARP use to stand for American Association of Retired People. Now it’s just AARP. You don’t have to be retired to be a member or to benefit from some of their programs. I use to be a card carrying dues paying member until I got into the financial mess that I’m in now. Too late, I cut up all my credit cards and threw them away. Collection agencies are constantly leaving urgent voice mails warning me to return their calls. I did return one call and regretted it. I understand that it doesn’t matter to them that I’m unemployed. They want their money; but first I have to get a job and AARP is helping me do that. I’ve had three interviews within sixty days; I just don’t have a job yet. Hopefully, something will break for me soon.
Tomorrow I’ll post a new flash fiction story; maybe that will give me some small sense of accomplishing something.
