Hello, all you beginning writers out there! It’s the Old Soldier reporting. I’ve got some tough love for you.
I wish when I was a young writer, oh about 45 years ago, an older writer had impressed on me that 99.9% of all writers do not make a living from writing. That’s right. You can research it. The chances of you making a living as a writer are slim and none.
What this means is your number one priority in life should not be to make it as a writer. Your number one priority in life should be to live your life to the fullest and to keep on writing. If you understand the distinction between the above two statements you will understand the implications…
If your number one priority in life is to live your life to the fullest and to keep on writing you are sure to find some level of success as a writer. Hell, you might even make a few bucks as a writer.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.
Hail to Pitt!
