My old Oxford American Desk Dictionary defines the word “niche” as: comfortable or suitable position in life or employment.
I can go along with that definition. Of course, the niche I’m referring to is the niche for my little girlie magazine.
Hello, all my fans of erotic flash fiction who live all over the world! Guy Hogan is my name and erotic flash fiction is my game. The Old Soldier can’t wait for next week when he’ll be back on his regular beat in Little Italy here in Pittsburgh, drinking beer at Armand’s and singing karaoke at Nico’s.
But I digress.
The Old Soldier continues to work hard to try to give you a reading experience that entices you to come back for more. And even though this magazine covers a host of topics like any other magazine, I don’t want this particular girlie magazine to lose its focus. What is its focus? What is its niche?
Its niche is erotic flash fiction.
In the hustle and bustle of publishing a daily girlie magazine, even the Old Soldier has to be reminded of the niche of the magazine. This post is not only a declaration to the world of what the niche is of this particular girlie magazine. It is also a reminder to myself.
Yesterday, I got another erotic flash fiction story about a woman’s sexual submission to a man. The story was very-well written. It was also the third story about a woman’s sexual submission that I’ve read in the past two months. 50 Shades of Grey has changed the mainstream publishing landscape.
As an editor, I prefer not to follow the latest publishing trend.
Keep reading those erotic short stories. This is the Old Soldier reporting for the PittsburghFlashFiction, a girlie magazine of erotic flash fiction.
