Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! A new day of blogging has begun. What adventures in blogging will we share today?
Have you checked out the front page (my landing page) lately? I really (I mean really) like the new setup. Nothing is stuck to the front page. There is just a steady flow of new content, 18 posts one after the other. Everything is so simple. No more rotating posts back and forth from the archives. Blogging for me has always been fun. Now it’s even more fun. I feel reinvigorated.
Of course, I still have to come up with new content every day. No matter how much I read on the Internet about becoming a successful blogger (SEO, algorithms, back links, guest bloggers, guest blogging, social media, videos and podcasts), the experts agree on one thing: content is still king.
So, I try to publish something every day because strictly speaking, the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is a daily. And it’s not easy coming up with content every day, especially quality content every day.
I spend a good part of my day (and sometimes sleepless nights) wondering, “What the hell am I going to blog about now?”
I truly empathize with those bloggers who have other responsibilities (families, jobs, school…whatever), because I have no responsibilities. I’m retired and a life-long bachelor with no children and I still struggle to come up with quality content every day.
Plus, I can’t just throw up content about any old thing. Sure, I can blog outside the box and sometimes it’s good to do that; but every blog has to have a focus. The focus of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is blogging, film, karaoke, short stories, television and the female nude. These six general topics not only keep this blog focused; they also keep me from wandering all over the page.
Well, Emily Bloom is here to keep us all focused. All of her photos were sampled from Egotastic All Stars.
Hail to Pitt!
This is Guy Hogan reporting from Pittsburgh.
If you are not already a regular visitor to this blog, I encourage you to become one today. I think we (myself, my contributors and guest bloggers) are doing something unique here at The Gazette, an online magazine of culture for adults only. I like to think of The Gazette as a traditional girlie magazine that appeals to the libido and the intellect.
PS It will be a sunny day in the City of Pittsburgh today with a high around 85.
