Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! After strolling around the bright, hot streets of the neighborhood for half an hour, I’m having a peaceful day at home flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head, reading my library book on the French Revolution and listening to classical music low on the radio.
In high school I played in the orchestra. As a matter of fact I was 1st chair clarinet and I played the solo for “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” during senior-class graduation (I think I was a junior at the time). That was a long time ago, but I remember it clearly.
So, my passion for classical music really is not that strange. And besides, I can’t read (or think for that matter) while listening to rock ‘n’ roll. Rock ‘n’ roll is body music.
Anyway, I’ll be back on my regular beat in Little Italy soon enough (next week). Right now I’m enjoying the peace and quiet of the life of the mind. And later this evening I have Pirates baseball on the radio (and YouTube) to look forward to.
I tell you what does go with classical music and rock ‘n’ roll: Emma Glover.
Hail to Pitt!
