Hello, hello, hello, all you rock ‘n’ rollers! A new day of blogging has begun. I still have a couple of hours before Armand’s Bar in Little Italy opens; Armand’s usually opens around 10:00 a.m. So, I’ve been scanning different online news outlets (Huffington Post, New York Times, The Hill…) and checking on the search terms that people use to find the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. The two most popular terms are “naked news” and “naked news videos” which is not surprising.
My immediate goal for The Gazette is to make 1,000 page views every day the baseline of my traffic; but after several months of trying to reach this goal my page views for this month still hover between 900 and 1,000 every day. As of this morning I’m averaging 924 page views every day for July.
Why the obsession with page views?
Page views make a difference in you Google page ranking. And the higher your Google page ranking the more traffic your blog gets. The more traffic your blog gets the more people click on your affiliate links and on your book. So the search for more page views (at least 1,000 every day) continues. It’s not just a matter of publishing more posts, either. One person can publish only so many quality posts every day. I can’t work any harder than I do work; but I can always find more ways to work smarter.
Hail to Pitt!
