The new electronic media offers opportunities for publication that writers could have only dreamed about a few years ago. It use to be that a writer of fiction had to submit his or her work to a book publisher or a magazine and hope for the best. It wasn’t a bad system; it just meant that only a tiny percentage of writers could ever hope to be published, let alone make any money from their writing.
The Internet has changed all of that.
This does not mean the Internet has improved the over all quality of writing. In the old system, very few poor writers got published. Anyone can publish on the Internet; but just like the old system, good writing still rises to the top. And opportunities are still available for good writers who are willing to invest time in finding markets for their work and who are willing to invest some time in promoting their work.
The opportunities are out there.
Bad Weather Returns To Pittsburgh
Snow and minus wind chill factors return to Pittsburgh today for the next few days. The Old Soldier is sick of winter! But I really should be ashamed of myself. I’m retired. I don’t have to leave my apartment if I don’t want to leave it.
A New Computer
Well, I phoned Dell today. And the company still had my old (12 years) account on file! As a matter of fact, the representative that I spoke to wanted to ship me a new computer in the next few days.
Not so fast. This is an important investment. The Old Soldier is going to take his time. But I do need a new computer. My old computer is so old that it’s interfering with my ability to edit and publish the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. If I can work out the details, I’ll probably have a new computer within the next few weeks.
This is the Old Soldier reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the premiere online publication of erotica for men and women who appreciate creative writing, culture and sex in the pages of the same magazine.
