Hello hello hello, everybody everywhere and welcome to my diary/magazine! How’s everyone doing? I’m doing well. I overcame my insomnia and got a good night’s sleep on the sofa where I always sleep because my bedroom is tiny and it has no windows. One of the movies I watched on YouTube before falling asleep last night was The Bad Sister. It was released in 1931 with a 23-year-old Bette Davis playing her first major role in a movie. She was just one of the supporting actors. She wasn’t the star. But the rest as they say is history. Her first co-starring role was in Of Human Bondage in 1934 when she played, how can a put this, a conniving ball-breaking manipulative bitch. Pure Bette Davis. No other actress in Hollywood wanted to come near the part. They all felt the part was poison and would end their careers. The young Miss Davis played the part with relish and a star was born.
I’ve stated many times in the pages of this diary/magazine that I’m a news junkie. I follow several news outlets on the Internet. Well, the Internet as we know it is coming to an end according to these news outlets. What is “Net Neutrality”? I have this definition on one of the index cards I keep on my workstation. I don’t know where I got the definition from but here it is:
“The principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.”
My Internet news sources say the FCC will vote the next month to roll back all the rules of net neutrality…
After years of not being able to properly clean my windows I finally found a place that sales long-handle squeegees so that now I can reach the outside upper panes of my windows. The warehouse-like auto store across the street sales them. Small world! Of course, the squeegees the store carries are for cleaning the windshields of your car. Well, I don’t have a car. So, I’ll use the squeegee on my windows. I just hope that next month when I get my squeegee I’ll also get a couple of days of mild weather so I can clean my windows.
I will be out and about today. As soon as I publish this blog post I’ll do my deep breathing, flexibility and stretching exercises and take my shower and then I’ll walk into Little Italy. First stop the supermarket and then Armand’s and then on my way back home I’ll stop at Sonny’s Tavern for a quick one.
Sonny’s is undergoing some renovations, but the owner insist on the place being open. His mantra is, Sonny’s never closes. Which makes me wonder if there will be karaoke at Sonny’s the first Sunday night of December. It’s one thing to stay open while work on the bar is going on and a handful of customers are willing to put up with the inconvenience of renovation. It’s quite another thing to hold karaoke doing renovations. Of course, karaoke takes place at night so there should be no problem. I’ll try to confirm karaoke the first Sunday night of December today. Why the first Sunday night of December and not the other Sunday nights of December? I plan to be at Sonny’s the first Sunday night of December to once again put into practice my theory of karaoke as art.
Hail to Pitt!
Today it will be mostly cloudy with the possibility of stray rain showers or even stray snow flurries with a high of only 38. All photos of Miss Davis were sampled from Wikipedia. This is Guy Hogan reporting for the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.
