It’s official. Winter has arrived in The ‘Burgh; but today is really a very pleasant sunny day in the 40s.
Once again I made a trip to the dollar store across the street and I picked up a 30-oz jar of mayonnaise, a 1.5 liter plastic bottle of Mountain Dew and a 6-oz can of peanuts all for just $3.95.
You can’t beat that with a stick!
The Old Soldier will fix a sandwich and then have peanuts to munch and Mountain Dew to sip as he blogs and re-tweets the day away.
I’ll also do some reading. A writer has to keep his or her mind sharp. I still have to finish reading my library book about Winston Churchill. It’s a thick book. I never knew how much his passion for theater and writing informed his career as a politician and statesman. He was a famous journalist and novelists before he became a politician.
So, let your passions inform your flash fiction (or your blog posts). You really can’t separate the two. And you’ll be a better writer, if you do.
