What a gloomy gloomy gloomy day in Pittsburgh today with an overcast sky and a high of 60 and rain off and on so I think I’ll stay in and read and surf the web. It was great making a quick stop in Little Italy a couple of days ago when I got some unexpected fun money but I didn’t spend all my fun money on beer. I supplemented my food supply with a can of pasta sauce and three cans of mackerel from the dollar store across the street and today I bought two packages of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups of 5 snack size individually wrapped candies in each package from the dollar store too. The candies are a perfect mix of chocolate and peanut butter and will be great for munching on as I read my F. Scott Fitzgerald and my Jack Kerouac and my Amy Aimee who has her own category here at the PittsburghFlash.
I’ll be back on my normal beat in Little Italy on Tuesday and one of the things I look forward to when I drink at Armand’s besides the company of the other regulars is the television. Yes I said the television because I’ve made a decision never to have a television in my apartment again which is not as strange as it may seem since everyone has a television but when my old television went kaput and I had to wait a couple of weeks before I would have the money to buy another one I got so much more blogging and writing and reading done that to go back to watching television seems to be a waste of my time. Besides I have a computer and there are all kinds of good videos on YouTube from old Super Bowls to old World Series to the fights of Rocky Marciano who never lost a fight and that’s something I didn’t know to silent films so that I don’t feel I’m missing anything by not having a television and when I go to Armand’s I get a real kick out of watching the game shows the bartender usually puts on the television at the end of the bar where I sit close to the window that looks out on Liberty Avenue–there’s a television at the other end of the bar that I hardly every watch.
Such simple pleasures as reading and chocolate and watching television in a bar keeps me grounded and real and very close to my material which helps to make me a better blogger and since the PittsburghFlash is the lifestyle magazine of a working class baby boomer (that’s me) blogging about my very working class lifestyle works since I’m also exposing the lifestyle of a writer of flash fiction. Well at least I hope that’s what I’m doing and besides there are plenty of more exciting content on this blog like female nudes and sexy stories by contributors and videos by Naked News; so explore the site and I’m sure of the more than 2,200 posts on this blog you will find something that will entertain you or that will inform you or maybe that may even inspire you.
Now I’m going to post this and put the classical music station on low on the radio and then assume my favorite position which is flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and do some reading and munch on my chocolate and peanut butter candies and hope for some sunshine in the next few days.
Hail to Pitt!
