Stopped reading and got off the sofa and turned off the radio and took a nice long walk on this sunny warm (high around 70) afternoon in Pittsburgh…Lots of young people who are probably students of the University of Pittsburgh in Schenley Plaza under the pavilion and at the tables on the walkway along the plaza and I still have not sampled sushi for the first time and the booth that sales sushi on the walkway will be closed soon as the days of autumn of 2016 slowly fade away…I did stop in at the public library and for the first time ever used one of their computers to log on to the Internet to send an email to someone very close to me…
Then I strolled back home and there was the resident I knew using his laptop in the room off the lobby and I asked him where he got his laptop and he told me (too far away) and he told me what he paid for it (way more than a refurbished desktop–around $1,000 although I think his laptop is high-end) because he didn’t have Internet in his apartment and had to use Wi-Fi and it was than that I realized if I had to get another computer it would be another desktop…

It’s 4:00 a.m. and all the lights are on in my living room/kitchenette and I’m flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head and I did get some sleep and I’m scribbling in my pocket but thick notebook against my raised legs to record that I’ve come to a decision which is that whether or not this place in Little Italy can fix my computer for a reasonable price I’m going to get another refurbished backup computer because as the editor/publisher of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette I cannot afford to be off-line ever if I can help it…Today I will stroll down to the public library here in Oakland, Pittsburgh where I live and use one of the library’s computers to go online and to begin my search for a backup computer…
I can’t read A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by Jame Joyce…I guess I’m just not a fan of James Joyce and I’m going to return Lonesome Traveler by Jack Kerouac without finishing it and although it was re-reading On The Road by Kerouac that has precipitated my present obsession with “spontaneous” writing his other books make the reader work too hard which is why I can’t read James Joyce…I want my “spontaneous” writing to ebb and flow and to be straight forward and clean and clear so that the reader can enjoy the ride while leaving the driving to me…So when I do go to the library today besides beginning my search on the Internet for a backup computer I also have to find me some new reading material since my Bukowski is just about all used up and thank goodness I still have my Good Pussy Bad Pussy books by Amy Aimee to read and right now I’m re-reading Rachel’s Tale…
It turned out to be a rainy chilly day in Pittsburgh and I just came back from the public library down by the campus of the University of Pittsburgh and all of the yellow school buses to take the students to the Pitt football game were parked on Bigelow Blvd. between Forbes Avenue and Fifth Avenue…
In the library I logged on to a computer to check my email and to tweet that my PC was down and there would be no new posts on the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette until some time in December with the hope that things will be back to normal the first week of December and then I searched for refurbished computers by Dell which is the kind of PC I’ve always used but what I stumbled across was that I could get a refurbished tower for my PC which is really all I need for between $80.00 to $120.00 and that makes all the difference in the world…I logged off and went into the stacks and then checked out Collected Stories of William Faulkner and Matisse Picasso and Gertrude Stein with Two Shorter Stories by Gertrude Stein…

Well even without a computer insomnia is insomnia and I find myself flat on my back on the sofa with two pillows under my weary head reading short stories by William Faulkner that I checked out from the library yesterday and I’ve already given up on the Gertrude Stein that I checked out too but Faulkner is really not my cup of tea and thank goodness I still have the Good Pussy Bad Pussy books by Amy Aimee to re-read…
To be continued…
Black against the sky
I wonder what do they eat?
My PC is down
Back To Little Italy
Forty eight hours
Then maybe three weeks of fun
And one week of bust…
My place is too hot
Sometimes my place is too cold
There’s no thermostat
