I sit in my comfortable chair (the captain’s seat) at my work station (I’m tired of being flat on my back on the sofa) and I listen to classical music low on the radio and I continue to re-read Good Pussy Bad Pussy Rachel’s Tale by Amy Aimee and think how well this novel of lust and love and adventure goes with classical music and I feel comforted knowing that this talented author is a confidante and intimate friend whose emails and my own cannot be shared with you…
Just came back from my afternoon sortie to the library, but the library closed early today and I did not get to punch up YouTube to listen to The Doors like I planned to so I left and walking in the early darkness of the shorter day of a late autumn in Pittsburgh, I was taken with the beauty of the trees of red and green and blue lights in Schenley Plaza and I had a strange feeling of contentment because the only time I’m out at night is for karaoke once a month and being out at night today was a new, strange experience and the trees reminded me that Christmas was only a few weeks away and if all goes well my PC will be up and running and I’ll be blogging from home again.
Hail to Pitt!
26 November 2016
Woke up on the sofa around 3:30 a.m. and the old Jack Benny Show was low on the radio on the local all news station and now that my life has been reduced to its essentials I woke up looking forward to reading more of The Price Was High, The Last Uncollected Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald and the novel Manhattan Transfer by John Dos Passos both writers which I checked out of the library after I punched up The Doors on YouTube…My PC is my television and movie theater and record player and not just a means for me to blog so it really is the center of my life and the sooner I have a working PC the sooner I’ll be my old true self again…
Now that the public library has taken on more importance to me I’m paying more attention to who comes in the place and who works there and who uses the computers…
Young people bring in there laptops and there are many men who are not so young like myself and older women too who must not have computers at home who come in and many of the staff who are male and female and young have hair dyed red and green and blue and pink and they show off their tattoos by wearing short sleeves and there are older staffers too which makes me think the hiring practices of the public library are very inclusive making the library even more interesting to me…
Today a long held assumption of mine was disproved. I always assumed that the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette was considered to be a porn site because of a comment a reader left years ago that stated she could not get on the site at the public library because The Gazette was blocked as a porn site so that when my PC went down earlier this month it never crossed my mind to try to blog from the public library, but all of that changed today for I decided just for the hell of it I would try to punch up The Gazette and all I can say is that I’m sure my reader was telling the truth about The Gazette being blocked as a porn site but that was years ago and I guess things have changed at the library…Today I put up a blog post of 800 words and some change and I was also able to get into The Gazette’s library of photos–not the file but the library of photos attached to the blog…These are photos I’ve already used and many I’ve never used and thank goodness there are hundreds of them…
When I tried to get into my Mr. Skin/Naked News account the site was blocked as a porn site which means I won’t be able to add any new videos to The Gazette or add any new photos of nude women from Egotastic All Stars to The Gazette from the library; but hopefully my own PC will be up and running soon…So for all practical purposes I am back online just not at 100%
Well that’s the end of my little diary about getting back online, but of course the story continues. UbreakIFix (its full name) said they found a virus on my tower and charged me $105.00 to get rid of it. Well, I was happy to pay the money but when I got my tower home I still couldn’t get on the Internet…So if Verizon says there is nothing wrong with my Internet connection and if UbreakIFix says it got rid of the virus I don’t know what else to do. UbreakIFix says maybe the problem is my cables. This is turning into a real mess. UbreakIFix offered to do a deeper search on my tower but I do not have a good feeling about it and I don’t want a laptop where I have to search out hot spots to use it…I want to be able to get online from the comfort of my small, shabby but comfy apartment–when management turns on the heat which lately they’ve been very good about.
This is Guy Hogan reporting from the main branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. All photos used for this blog post were sampled from Egotastic All Stars and all videos are from Mr. Skin/Naked News.
PS I do plan to be at Sonny’s Tavern tonight for karaoke.
