Students were everywhere on the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh today. They were moving into the dorms. If I could only get the New Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette discovered by the student body of Pitt…Well, so far it’s only been a dream.
I’m the first to admit that this blog is not for everyone; but I think many of the students would like this blog. They’re all young adults. And Pitt has a well-respected writing department, too. I know. I got my BA and MFA from Pitt in 2003 and 2006, respectively.
What pleasant memories. I was a happy-go-lucky 50-something-year-old student, hanging out in the bars around campus, soaking up the atmosphere, working on the flash fiction stories that would become my thesis.
I discovered Raymond Carver at Pitt. I read everything of his that I could get my hands on. During my last year as a grad student, I got to teach undergraduates flash fiction.
Hail to Pitt!
