Here in Pittsburgh the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. At night there is now a distinct chill in the air.
When I was young the ice and snow of winter didn’t bother me. The ice and snow were just part of the changing of the seasons in Pittsburgh and I really liked the changing of the seasons. The changing of the seasons in Pittsburgh was just something I grew up with. Now that I’m retired the ice and snow of a Pittsburgh winter are things to be dreaded.
Since I’ve been retired I’ve already fallen once on the ice and snow and I chipped a tooth which I finally had fixed only this month. I fell three years ago. I don’t want to fall again.
But the ice and snow are still several weeks away and we’re going to have sunny, warm weather for several more days giving me a last chance to hike through Schenley Park or to stroll through Schenley Plaza. I’ll deal with the ice and snow when they get here.
