Overnight The ‘Burgh was hit by 4-6 inches of snow. And we’re suppose to get more.
Hello hello hello, all my fans who live all over the world! The Old Soldier is reporting for duty.
Yes, I got up this morning (it’s still dark outside) and I looked out my two windows (each faces in a different direction because I have a corner apartment in the back) onto a white winter wonderland. It was very pretty. I was snug and warm in my well-lived in apartment. I’ve been in the same apartment for maybe 15 years.
My apartment building has radiator heat. My only complaint about radiator heat is that since there is no thermostat, it’s difficult to keep a steady temperature in the apartment. Several times a day I find myself adjusting the knobs on the two radiators in my living room/kitchenette. Since I don’t spend much time in the bathroom, the radiator in the bathroom is less of a problem.
Oh, and every once in a while you get that jackhammer knocking in the pipes at all hours of the day or night.
I’m not complaining about radiator heat. Because whenever I walk into Little Italy for a couple of beers at Armand’s there is usually a rather bedraggled man sitting near a doorway asking for money. He is not a young man and he is obviously homeless. I hope he has a shelter to go to at night. I was homeless once as a young man, but I was homeless only for a couple of months and it was in the summer and I had a shelter to sleep in at night.
I should have some fun money this Friday. There is a school of thought that says you should not give money to beggars. Still…
What adventures in blogging will we share today? I’ll be updating the front page all day long.
